أَخَذْنَٰهُم

Appears 6 times in the Quran. (Root: اخذ)
  1. And certainly We sent (messengers) to nations before you then We seized them with distress and affliction in order that they might humble themselves.

  2. But when they neglected that with which they had been admonished, We opened for them the doors of all things, until when they rejoiced in what they were given We seized them suddenly; then lo! they were in utter despair.

  3. Then We gave them good in the place of evil until they became many and said: Distress and happiness did indeed befall our fathers. Then We took them by surprise while they did not perceive.

  4. And if the people of the towns had believed and guarded (against evil) We would certainly have opened up for them blessings from the heaven and the earth, but they rejected, so We overtook them for what they had earned.

  5. And already We overtook them with chastisement, but they were not submissive to their Lord, nor do they humble themselves.

  6. And We did not show them a sign but it was greater than its like, and We overtook them with chastisement that they may turn.
