  1. Now surely they themselves are the mischief makers, but they do not perceive.

  2. And when it is said to them: Believe as the people believe they say: Shall we believe as the fools believe? Now surely they themselves are the fools, but they do not know.

  3. You have no concern in the affair whether He turns to them (mercifully) or chastises them, for surely they are unjust.

  4. And let not those grieve you who fall into unbelief hastily; surely they can do no harm to Allah at all; Allah intends that He should not give them any portion in the hereafter, and they shall have a grievous chastisement.

  5. And be not weak hearted in pursuit of the enemy; if you suffer pain, then surely they (too) suffer pain as you suffer pain, and you hope from Allah what they do not hope; and Allah is Knowing, Wise.

  6. And those who believe will say: Are these they who swore by Allah with the most forcible of their oaths that they were most surely with you? Their deeds shall go for nothing, so they shall become losers.

  7. If Thou shouldst chastise them, then surely they are Thy servants; and if Thou shouldst forgive them, then surely Thou art the Mighty, the Wise.

  8. Nay, what they concealed before shall become manifest to them; and if they were sent back, they would certainly go back to that which they are forbidden, and most surely they are liars.

  9. We know indeed that what they say certainly grieves you, but surely they do not call you a liar; but the unjust deny the communications of Allah.

  10. But they called him a liar, so We delivered him and those with him in the ark, and We drowned those who rejected Our communications; surely they were a blind people.

  11. And the answer of his people was no other than that they said: Turn them out of your town, surely they are a people who seek to purify (themselves).

  12. And let not those who disbelieve think that they shall come in first; surely they will not escape.

  13. They have taken a small price for the communications of Allah, so they turn away from His way; surely evil is it that they do.

  14. And if they break their oaths after their agreement and (openly) revile your religion, then fight the leaders of unbelief-- surely their oaths are nothing-- so that they may desist.

  15. Had it been a near advantage and a short journey, they would certainly have followed you, but the tedious journey was too long for them; and they swear by Allah: If we had been able, we would certainly have gone forth with you; they cause their own souls to perish, and Allah knows that they are most surely

  16. And they swear by Allah that they are most surely of you, and they are not of you, but they are a people who are afraid (of you).

  17. And never offer prayer for any one of them who dies and do not stand by his grave; surely they disbelieve in Allah and His Messenger and they shall die in transgression.

  18. They will swear to you by Allah when you return to them so that you may turn aside from them; so do turn aside from them; surely they are unclean and their abode is hell; a recompense for what they earned.

  19. And those who built a masjid to cause harm and for unbelief and to cause disunion among the believers and an ambush to him who made war against Allah and His Messenger before; and they will certainly swear: We did not desire aught but good; and Allah bears witness that they are most surely liars.

  20. Now surely they fold up their breasts that they may conceal (their enmity) from Him; now surely, when they use their garments as a covering, He knows what they conceal and what they make public; surely He knows what is in the breasts.

  21. O Ibrahim! leave off this, surely the decree of your Lord has come to pass, and surely there must come to them a chastisement that cannot be averted.

  22. And certainly We gave the book to Musa, but it was gone against; and had not a word gone forth from your Lord, the matter would surely have been decided between them; and surely they are in a disquieting doubt about it.

  23. By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication.

  24. We relate to you their story with the truth; surely they were youths who believed in their Lord and We increased them in guidance.

  25. For surely if they prevail against you they would stone you to death or force you back to their religion, and then you will never succeed.

  26. And (as for) Lut, We gave him wisdom and knowledge, and We delivered him from the town which wrought abominations; surely they were an evil people, transgressors;

  27. And We helped him against the people who rejected Our communications; surely they were an evil people, so We drowned them all.

  28. So We responded to him and gave him Yahya and made his wife fit for him; surely they used to hasten, one with another In deeds of goodness and to call upon Us, hoping and fearing and they were humble before Us.

  29. Except before their mates or those whom their right hands possess, for they surely are not blameable,

  30. Nay! We have brought to them the truth, and most surely they are liars.

  31. And We have not sent before you any messengers but they most surely ate food and went about in the markets; and We have made some of you a trial for others; will you bear patiently? And your Lord is ever Seeing.

  32. And most surely they have enraged us;

  33. Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds;

  34. Most surely they are far removed from the hearing of it.

  35. And enter your hand into the opening of your bosom, it shall come forth white without evil; among nine signs to Firon and his people, surely they are a transgressing people.

  36. But the answer of his people was no other except that they ~s said: Turn out Lut's followers from your town; surely they are a people who would keep pure!

  37. Enter your hand into the opening of your bosom, it will come forth white without evil, and draw your hand to yourself to ward off fear: so these two shall be two arguments from your Lord to Firon and his chiefs, surely they are a transgressing people.

  38. And those who disbelieve say to those who believe: Follow our path and we will bear your wrongs. And never shall they be the bearers of any of their wrongs; most surely they are liars.

  39. And a barrier shall be placed between them and that which they desire, as was done with the likes of them before: surely they are in a disquieting doubt.

  40. So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another.

  41. Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah;

  42. Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it.

  43. Surely they found their fathers going astray,

  44. But they called him a liar, therefore they shall most surely be brought up.

  45. Allah has begotten; and most surely they are liars.

  46. And they assert a relationship between Him and the jinn; and certainly the jinn do know that they shall surely be brought up;

  47. Most surely they shall be the assisted ones

  48. And most surely they were with Us, of the elect, the best.

  49. This is an army plunging in without consideration along with you; no welcome for them, surely they shall enter fire.

  50. And We have appointed for them comrades so they have made fair-seeming to them what is before them and what is behind them, and the word proved true against them-- among the nations of the jinn and the men that have passed away before them-- that they shall surely be losers.

  51. And certainly We gave the Book to Musa, but it has been differed about, and had not a word already gone forth from your Lord, judgment would certainly have been given between them; and most surely they are in a disquieting doubt about it.

  52. Now surely they are in doubt as to the meeting of their Lord; now surely He encompasses all things.

  53. And most surely they turn them away from the path, and they think that they are guided aright:

  54. So he incited his people to levity and they obeyed him: surely they were a transgressing people.

  55. And leave the sea intervening; surely they are a host that shall be drowned.

  56. Are they better or the people of Tubba and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty.

  57. Surely they shall not avail you in the least against Allah; and surely the unjust are friends of each other, and Allah is the guardian of those who guard (against evil).

  58. These are they against whom the word has proved true among nations of the jinn and the men that have already passed away before them; surely they are losers.

  59. Taking what their Lord gives them; surely they were before that, the doers of good.

  60. And the people of Nuh before, surely they were a transgressing people.

  61. And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and inordinate;

  62. Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty.

  63. (As for) those of you who put away their wives by likening their backs to the backs of their mothers, they are not their mothers; their mothers are no others than those who gave them birth; and most surely they utter a hateful word and a falsehood and most surely Allah is Pardoning, Forgiving.

  64. Allah has prepared for them a severe punishment; surely what they do is evil.

  65. On the day that Allah will raise them up all, then they will swear to Him as they swear to you, and they think that they have something; now surely they are the liars.

  66. Have you not seen those who have become hypocrites? They say to those of their brethren who disbelieve from among the followers of the Book: If you are driven forth, we shall certainly go forth with you, and we will never obey any one concerning you, and if you are fought against, we will certainly help you, and Allah bears witness that they are most surely liars.

  67. They make their oaths a shelter, and thus turn away from Allah's way; surely evil is that which they do.

  68. Surely they think it to be far off,

  69. Except in the case of their wives or those whom their right hands possess-- for these surely are not to be blamed,

  70. Nuh said: My Lord! surely they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children have added to him nothing but loss.

  71. Surely they feared not the account,

  72. Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord.

  73. Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire.
