  4. And of them is he who hearkens to you, and We have cast veils over their hearts lest they understand it and a heaviness into their ears; and even if they see every sign they will not believe in it; so much so that when they come to you they only dispute with you; those who disbelieve say: This is naught but the stories of the ancients.

  5. And certainly you have come to Us alone as We created you at first, and you have left behind your backs the things which We gave you, and We do not see with you your intercessors about whom you asserted that they were (Allah's) associates in respect to you; certainly the ties between you are now cut off and what you asserted is gone from you.

  6. And We will turn their hearts and their sights, even as they did not believe in it the first time, and We will leave them in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on.

And (as for) the foremost, the first of the Muhajirs and the Ansars, and those who followed them in goodness, Allah is well pleased with them and they are well pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flOw, to abide in them for ever; that is the mighty achievement.

  31. Nay, they say the like of what the ancients said:

  32. Certainly we are promised this, and (so were) our fathers aforetime; this is naught but stories of those of old.

  33. And they say: The stories of the ancients-- he has got them written-- so these are read out to him morning and evening.

  44. (In) behaving proudly in the land and in planning evil; and the evil plans shall not beset any save the authors of it. Then should they wait for aught except the way of the former people? 45. Say: He will give life to them Who brought them into existence at first, and He is cognizant of all creation

  46. Or our fathers of yore?

  47. Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised?

  48. And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them,
